THE SCHUTZ BROTHERS' STORY...
The Schutz Brothers' story began in the 1930's when Don Schutz, at the tender age of 14, purchased a 55 acre farm from his father. He started raising horses and named his new home Crescent Stud Farm.
In his late teens, he began cutting leather on a borrowed billiard table to create his own bridles, halters and reins. His fascination with leather grew and led to the sale of his prized Arabian stallion, Indraff, for $10,000 in 1946 to provide the finances to begin Schutz Brothers.
Don's brother, Dick, joined him in the new venture, a combination tack and gun store. The first Schutz Brothers' sign was posted near a converted milk house/tool and implement shed on the farm.
On weekends, the brothers would fill their station wagon with tack to exhibit in booths at local fairs and horse shows. Little did they know that their simple beginnings and passion for leather craft would lead to an international wholesale saddlery business and a way of life for generations to come.
Don's love of horses and appreciation for fine leather has been passed through the family and remains alive today, some 80 years later. Don's son, Mitch, and Mitch's wife, Penny, are at the helm to carry on the traditions.
In their time away from "the shop" the Schutz's have enjoyed spending time together with their daughter, Brogan, and their horses. Mitch has enjoyed riding and showing his reining horse while Brogan garnered multiple top tens in all-around events at the AQHYA World Show and Quarter Horse Congress.
Horses truly are a way of life for the Schutz family and they are dedicated to using their knowledge and experience to craft the best products for you. Don's legacy of uncompromising dedication to integrity, service and quality products will remain unchanged.
