man has been using the hides of animals

to clothe, protect and generally make life better for himself. The tanning process, though fundamentally the same, has evolved with the help of technology. Today's tanneries have made great strides in strength and consistency from one hide to the next but most would reveal that it still remains as much an art as it is a science.

The tanneries Schutz Brothers has chosen to supply our leather are the modern day Picassos of the leather industry.

Through trial and error, science and true passion for perfection, the leather that is the basis for our products is simply the best available.

"There is no substitute for experience", is a saying that reflects the most important ingredient in producing a superior product – time. Whether it is the years of time our craftsmen have spent honing their skills or the all important time it takes to properly tan a piece of leather, the investment of time into each component of the finished product is of key importance.

Quality cannot be rushed or forced into a product.

The utmost care is given to every aspect of leather production, from choosing the best raw hides, to processing them with the finest oils, waxes, and tallows and paying strict attention to the finished thickness, knowing not to over stress the all important fiber bundles that make up the true strength of any given piece of leather.

Leather is, and always will be, a natural product and therefore will vary from piece to piece.

We constantly gauge the thickness and firmness of every piece of leather to assure our products are the most consistent in strength and feel that is possible with a natural product.
